Greeningup® living wall system is a vertical planting system where plants grow in modular units mounted to a wall or freestanding structure. It allows greenery to be introduced where traditional planting is not possible.
Greeningup® is a professional-grade living wall system suitable for indoor and outdoor use. It can be used in homes, gardens, workplaces, hospitality, retail and public spaces, from small feature walls to large-scale custom installations.
The system can be mounted to most structural wall surfaces using aluminium profile bars. It can also be fixed directly to timber or structural panels. For non-load-bearing walls, freestanding and self-contained solutions are available.
The core system is made from 100% recycled polypropylene with added UBQ™ — a climate-positive material created from unsorted household waste. The system is fully recyclable and designed for long-term reuse.
The Greeningup® core system is manufactured in the UK.
The core Greeningup® system is covered by a 5-year warranty.
Design & Compatibility
Yes. The Greeningup® system is fully modular and can be expanded vertically or horizontally, from small feature walls to large-scale installations covering hundreds or thousands of square metres.
The system supports a wide range of plants, including evergreen planting, seasonal displays, pollinator-friendly species, and low-growing edibles such as strawberries.
Both mature plants and young plants can be used. Grown in 11-13cm pots. Mature plants provide instant impact, while young plants can be grown on and matured within the system over time.
Greeningup® smart pots are recommended as they improve drainage and airflow, but standard 11–13 cm pots can also be used.
The system is compatible with both soil and substrate, allowing flexibility depending on the application.
Yes. Signage and branding elements can be incorporated into living walls, with design and production support available.
Installation
Yes, Greeningup® can provide a full service from concept to installation and maintenance.
The modular planter sets click together and can be fixed directly to walls or mounted on profile bars. Plants are installed directly in their pots with no replanting required.
Installation speed depends on access and wall conditions, but typically around +25m² of planted wall can be installed per day, by trained installers, under normal conditions.
No. Framing is optional and provides a clean edge finish. The system can also be installed with open edges if preferred.
The maximum installed weight is 33 kg per m² when fully planted and saturated.
Yes. The planter units form a sealed structure. Water is supplied from a single irrigation feed at the top, with controlled drainage or recirculation options.
The system and smart pots are designed to prevent clogging. Individual plants can be easily removed and maintained if required.
Indoor Use
Yes. The system works well indoors using substrate and closed-loop irrigation. Freestanding plug-and-play options are also available.
Additional grow lighting may be required depending on available natural light. Lighting options can be added where needed.
Outdoor Use & Environment
Yes. The same system is used for outdoor and indoor applications.
Orientation affects light, heat, and wind exposure. Plant selection is tailored to suit the conditions of each location.
The system supports a wide range of plants from Evergreens to edibles. Ranging from shade-tolerant species to full-sun planting.
Yes. The system is UV-stable, frost-resistant, and designed for year-round outdoor exposure.
Water, Irrigation & Feeding
The system can be connected to manual or fully automated irrigation. Water is supplied from a single top feed and distributed internally.
Pump specifications are matched to wall size. Typical flow is 8 litres per hour per regulator, with four regulators per planter set.
Each square metre holds approximately 650 ml of water internally. Peak water use is up to 1 litre per m² per day during hot conditions, with lower usage in most cases.
Typically once per day during warmer months and less frequently during cooler periods.
Minimal feeding is required for the first year, plants draw their nutrients from the soil/substrate, after which a low-nitrogen fertiliser plan can be introduced as part of a maintenance package.
Maintenance visits are typically monthly, with higher frequency for edible or seasonal planting.
Plants & Longevity
With proper care and maintenance, plants can thrive for many years.
Very easy, each plant sits in its own pot and can be individually removed and replaced, allowing for total plant control.
Plant layouts, species selection, and patterns can be fully customised.
